GitHub retired GitHub Models on July 30, 2026: the model catalog, the playground, the inference API (models.github.ai and the older models.inference.ai.azure.com) and bring-your-own-key. Requests, including those from GitHub Actions with the models permission, no longer get model answers. GitHub points to Microsoft Foundry or GitHub Copilot instead.
