# GitHub Scheduled code scanning skips inactive repositories

Markdown version of <https://harbyn.com/changes/github/2026-10-01-scheduled-code-scanning-skips-inactive-repositories>.

Behavior change - GitHub. low severity. In effect.

Weekly scheduled scans for code scanning default setup and GitHub Code Quality now start only after a push or pull request has triggered an analysis; initial validation and language detection scans no longer mark a repository as active. Live on GitHub Enterprise Cloud, planned for GitHub Enterprise Server 3.24.

## Find it in your code

```sh
npx harbyn scan
```

This change names no identifier the scanner can match line by line, so the scan tells you whether your repository uses GitHub, from its packages and API hosts. Nothing leaves your machine.
