# GitHub Copilot managed settings can force a policy refresh at startup and require a minimum client version

Enterprise admins can set forceRemoteSettingsRefresh to true so Copilot CLI, VS Code and the GitHub Copilot app fetch current managed settings at startup instead of using a cached policy; if current policy cannot be confirmed the client fails closed. The sandbox managed-settings key now enforces a minimum client version, so users pinned to older Copilot clients must update to keep using Copilot.
