# GitLab API Runner status will no longer include paused or active

In a future v5 of the REST API, GitLab Runner endpoints will not return paused or active in runner status. Status will indicate runner contact status, such as online, offline, or not\_connected. Check the paused boolean attribute to determine whether a runner is paused or active.
