# Google Ads API EU political advertising declaration optional for campaigns targeting only outside the EU

In v26, Campaign.contains\_eu\_political\_advertising becomes optional for new and existing campaigns that positively target only locations outside the EU (no EU locations, proximities or location groups). New require\_eu\_political\_advertising\_declaration fields on GeoTargetConstant, CampaignCriterion and AdGroupCriterion show when the declaration is needed; an ad group created without a needed declaration returns AdGroupError.MISSING\_EU\_POLITICAL\_ADVERTISING\_SELF\_DECLARATION.
