Dependency lifecycle scripts (preinstall, install, postinstall) and implicit node-gyp builds no longer run unless allowed, and git or remote-URL dependencies are no longer resolved unless allowed. Builds that rely on a dependency's install script break silently after upgrading. Review and approve trusted scripts with npm approve-scripts and commit the allowlist in package.json. The same behaviour is available behind warnings from npm 11.16.0.
