# Perplexity API Agent API renames preset to effort

The Agent API introduces effort as the parameter name. preset remains accepted as a deprecated alias, and responses return both fields. Models, prompts, tools, limits, pricing, version pinning, and frozen configurations are unchanged. Python SDK 0.46.0 and TypeScript SDK 0.41.0 add the effort parameter.
