# Shopify ProductVariant.barcode deprecated as variants gain multiple barcodes

ProductVariant.barcode is deprecated in favor of the new barcodes connection (up to 20 typed barcodes per variant), written through productSet, productVariantsBulkCreate and productVariantsBulkUpdate. barcode keeps working but returns only the first entry; a removal date will be announced later.
