# Twilio Real-Time Transcriptions provider failover on by default from October 22, 2026

From October 22, 2026, Real-Time Transcriptions retries a session on the alternate speech provider in the same region when the primary doesn't connect, on for all existing accounts with per-sub-account opt-out; unsupported settings are dropped instead of erroring. New customers default to transcriptionEngine=auto.
